How to Manage Member Roles and Permissions on AfterShip Shipping

Overview



Roles and permissions provide different levels of access to members based on the task they perform. AfterShip allows you to grant role-based access to members. When inviting members to the organization, you can control the privileges of the members by assigning different roles to them.

How to add or remove a member in an organization



Log in to your AfterShip organization dashboard
Go to Members




Click Add members
Enter the email address and select a role for the member. You can also bulk add members by entering enter multiple emails separated by a comma
Click Add



AfterShip sends an invite email to the new member with a link to set up their AfterShip account.



To delete or remove a member from an organization, click the dropdown icon against the member's name and click Remove from organization

There is no limit to the number of members in any role, except for the owner, which is unique.

How to transfer ownership



Click the Change owner button under Owner



If the account has a password, just enter the password, select the member you want to transfer the ownership to, enter CONFIRM, and click Transfer ownership to complete the ownership transfer.
If the account is logged in from a third party without a password, we will send a verification code through the registered email. Enter the verification code and select the member you need to transfer the ownership. Enter CONFIRM and click Transfer ownership to complete the ownership transfer.

Note: Only the Owner has the authority to transfer the ownership to any organization member. If the person is not a member of the organization, then the owner first needs to add them before initiating the ownership transfer.

Default roles and permissions



We provide both the default and custom roles. For the default roles, we have defined each role and the permissions corresponding to the role below:



Owner: Limited to only 1 per organization (Full permissions)
Admin: Can manage organization-level and billing/subscription settings
Manager: Can manage orders and feature settings
Support Agent: Can view orders
Member: A legacy role with full permissions (Applicable only to the old users)

Note:

For Orders - Edit permission, it includes below actions:
Mark as shipped
Move to awaiting shipment
Single/Bulk edit order info


FAQs



1. Who can invite a member?

Only the owner of the organization can invite a member.

2. Who can configure the role of a member?

Only the owner or admin of the organization can edit the role of a member.

If you are not an enterprise customer, then you can only enjoy the roles in the default role. Only Enterprise customers can customize their own roles.
